Tournament Rules

Pool game time limit is 70 minutes. Ties are ok in pool games.

Bracket play time limit is 80 minutes.

Championship game is 90 minutes.

For bracket play, if the game is tied after time limit or seven innings, we go to the International Tie Breaker. Last batter for the inning starts at second base. No outs. No count on the batter.

Timing begins at the end of the plate conference. For prolonged delays, e.g. injuries, please ask the umpires to stop the timer while it gets resolved. Please limit your defensive conferences between innings to get the maximum amount of innings played.

All games are finish the inning. That said, if the result is no longer in doubt, the game is over. Regardless of run differential or whatever else, if time has expired or you've reached the run-ahead rule and the home team is ahead, it's over.

The run-ahead rule is 12-runs after three innings, 10 runs after four innings, 8 runs after five innings.

Everything is straight USSSA rules unless something here differs from that. We use regular tournament rules, not National/State/USEAS.

You need eight players to start and eight players to finish.

You can bat 8/9/10/11/12/13/etc. (You can roster bat). You can use the DP/Flex, as well. If you do not have an unused substitute and have an injury, there is an out in that spot in the batting order.

Batting rules are the same for pool and bracket.

You can use a Courtesy Runner for the pitcher and/or catcher. If you have an unused substitute, that is your courtesy runner. If you do not have any unused substitutes, we use the Last Completed At Bat (LCAB), which is not necessarily the last out. The same person could end up running for the pitcher and the catcher. Unless NFHS rules, this is NOT counted as a substitution.

Warm up on deck batter must stay on their own side of the field.

Ejections of coaches are an automatic game plus one game. After consultation with the umpires and fact-gathering, that could be extended.

Ejections of fans are permanent for the weekend. Please be nice and keep your cheering positive and be great role models.

Everyone will play four pool games on Friday and Saturday. After all pool games are completed, we'll have a short break to set the brackets and then begin bracket play on Saturday. Bracket play continues on Sunday. We have found that college coaches will not generally stay late on Saturday to observe, so we plan a shorter day on Saturday with the last scheduled game at 5pm. It also allows everyone for a good meal and rest before Sunday. To that end, the Championship Game in each division is scheduled for 130pm on Sunday. We also do not play 8am games in this showcase. We start each day at 9am. Umpires like that also.

Fields, Locations, and Park Rules

We are playing on eight fields at Bailey Park; four are located in a quad named Flannery and four are located In a quad named Convis; We are also playing at the Wenke Softball Complex in Galesburg (two fields) and at the Harper Creek Sports Complex (one field).
 

Bailey Park 1350 Capital Ave NE, Battle Creek, MI. Dogs are not allowed in the quad areas. Concessions take card/cash.

Concessions will be open during game play and they take cash/card.

Harper Creek Sports Complex 12677 Beadle Lake Rd, Battle Creek, MI. From Bill Burritt, the site director:

• We do allow pets as long as they take care of them and they aren?t a nuisance.
• No smoking or alcohol.
• Concession hours are When we get to the park until the last game
• WE have all beef hotdogs, chips, popcorn, water, pop, Gatorade, Candy, ice cream treats.
• We do except venmo and we will try and get a credit card machine also. (credit Card machine depends on wifi)
• We do have working bathrooms

All three locations have dedicated restrooms. All of them prohibit smoking and alcohol.

There is NO gate fee, parking fee, or spectator fee this weekend for anyone in attendance as they come/go this weekend.

We will have field maintenance at all locations. PLEASE stay out of the way of the grounds crews. If they are on the infield, please warm up in the outfield. Do not take ground balls in the dirt or throw warmup pitches on the dirt if the grounds crew is present on your field.
